1. Can you tell us about your journey as a writer? What inspired you to start writing?
I never thought I would actually write a book one day. After I had managed to give birth to my 2nd child, totally in charge without an epidural and completely aware of the delivery process in a way I didn’t know was possible, I knew I had discovered something precious. A few weeks after childbirth, a title for a book came up “The Path to Deliverance”, 7 years later I felt the urge to write and started my book.
2. How do you develop your characters? Do you draw inspiration from real-life people or create them entirely from your imagination?
My book is a non-fiction book, a guide where I share my personal experiences, tips and tools to deeply prepare for birth and develop qualities of self-trust and self-love.
3. What is your typical writing process like? Do you follow a strict routine or write whenever inspiration strikes?
This was an interesting discovery and totally new journey for me, I actually used both. I would discipline myself to sit down every day to write. Sometimes, pure inspiration would be the motivation and writing flow, sometimes it would be more logic, strategy for the structure of the book or sharing factual experiences and tools.
4. How do you handle writer’s block or moments when you feel stuck in your writing?
At first, I would put pressure on myself and then I quickly understood that it was ok and important to just accept those days or moments, doing so, usually inspiration would arise. Otherwise, I would create an auspicious environment to invite inspiration and creativity, I would create my own ritual. I would meditate, put inspirational music on, light a candle, and prepare my favorite latte.
5. What role does research play in your writing? How do you approach the research process for your books?
Research plays a huge role in my book! Writing for me was a self-discovery process where I would learn and assimilate texts, podcast talks and meditations in my daily life and writing routine. I quote many people in my book like Deepak Chopra, Bob Proctor, the Dalai Lama and many more. Their writings or words demonstrate and confirm my thoughts and experiences.
6. How important is the setting or location in your stories? Do you prefer using real places or creating fictional ones?
Locations are always real when I share my experiences, most of them were in France where I gave birth to my three children.
7. Are there any particular themes or messages that you try to convey through your writing?
Yes, the first main themes are of course pregnancy, childbirth preparation and motherhood but also mindfulness, presence and spirituality. The latter, being a way for true self-love and well being.
8. How do you handle criticism or negative reviews of your work? Do they affect your writing process or style?
I haven’t been confronted to any of that yet. But I accept that my ideas are not for everyone and that we are all allowed to have our own opinions and perceptions of the world.
9. Can you share any memorable fan interactions or feedback that have impacted you as an author?
I am an unknown author and new to this experience but I’ve had such heartwarming feedback, support and love from family, friends and unknown supporters. The main impact was LOVE, exactly what my book is really all about.
10. Do you have any specific writing rituals or habits that help you stay focused and productive?
I already mentioned this in a previous question, but yes, nurturing and self-care rituals helped me write. Just like the tools I share in my book are for helping mothers reconnect with their true self and experience deep wellbeing during the most challenging transformations a woman can go through in her life.
11. How do you balance your personal life with your writing career? What challenges have you faced in maintaining this balance?
When I was writing the book I was a full time “at home mum”. It was very challenging to handle everything but I was very disciplined and organised with my time and routine. Now my book is out, I work full time as a copywriter/content manager for a company and finding the time to promote my book has been very hard. But I do my best everyday despite being exhausted, and continue my yoga and meditation routine even though I do less than before.
12. Are there any upcoming projects or future plans you can share with us? What can readers expect from your next book?
For now, I live one day at a time and I will see where this journey takes me. I would love to continue my “Let’s talk by Charlotte Logan” podcast where I share deep discussions on life, awareness and love. I would love to give talks and continue helping others discovering who they are and how they can be their highest self.
